• Can bamboo flooring be sanded & refinished?

  Generally speaking, bamboo flooring can be sanded and varnished. However, we recommend conducting a free site survey to assess the condition of your specific flooring and its restoration potential. Due to the specialized sanding skills and knowledge required for bamboo flooring, we suggest hiring a professional floor sanding company like Floorworks™ rather than attempting a DIY approach to ensure the best results.

• Is it possible to sand and oil my 3-strip engineered wood flooring?

  Hi and thank you for contacting us regarding sanding, staining, and re-oiling your 3-strip engineered wood flooring.

  The 3-strip engineered floorings come with a 3 mm top layer of solid wood, meaning they can only be sanded once. First, ensure your flooring has never been sanded before.

  If your floors can be sanded again, you can change the color of the natural oak using colored oils. We highly recommend Osmo Oils, which offer a wide variety of colors and are frequently used in our restoration services for oiled floors.

• How often to re-wax my wooden flooring?

  Hi Jim,

  For higher traffic areas like hallways, kitchen / dining room, living room re-oiling of the wooden floors is recommended every 18 - 24 months. For bedrooms, upper landing and areas with less use, this can be every 4-5 years.

• Do you replace original floorboards with seasoned / reclaimed material?

  Yes, in our floorboards repairs service we only work with seasoned pine material, which will reflect age and colour of your existing boards as close as possible.

  If the natural colour of the boards is not a good match, we can also adjust it local staining.

• Is gap filling covered by your Service Guarantee?

  Gap filling with saw-dust and rasin filler on floorboards is exempt from our Service Guarantee.

  While working on the surface of your floors during floorboards sanding / repairs we endeavour to make every effort to increase its solidness, before proceeding with the gap filling. It is in fact the solidness of the floor boards, as well as the condition of its support (joists) that will define the durability of the gap filling, not the quality of the product we use or our service.

• How many coats of lacquer are included in your service?

  For domestic floor sanding services, we apply 1 coat of primer followed by 2 coats of lacquer. The final sheen options are extra-matt, matt, satin, and gloss.

  For floor sanding in public spaces (offices, schools, church halls), we use 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of commercial-grade lacquer, with sheen options including extra-matt, matt, and satin.

  Extra coats are available upon request, but we do not recommend more than 5 coats, including primer. You can find the full list of floor finishes we use here.
