Wood Floor Staining

Wood floor staining is a technique, which is part of the restoration process that provides the opportunity to alter the wood floor colour preserving the visibility of the grain, in line with the interior and furniture of your home.

We use various ways to help you achieve the desired colour, using the finest grade of materials and wood stains. The products we use include stains from Morrells, Bona's oil-based Craft palette of colours, as well as Osmo, Blanchon, Ciranova and Loba and more. With these semi-transparent tints we can make your floor lighter or darker, or even mix colours, to achieve unique appearance. Under our guidance and expert opinion, stains can be applied in different ways to attain the desirable colour.

Staining pine floorboards is where our most work applies. This is probably the most wood stain friendly timber.  Because of its grain similarity with other species, pine easily resembles walnut, oak and teak, after application of the stain. When we mention staining solid oak flooring both light-fast and water-based stains are suitable for it and our floor men enjoy working with it.

Keep in mind while staining maple floors that they are very sensitive to abrasives used in the wood floor sanding, an experienced floor man will know that when the surface remains finer, the stain/grain becomes less absorbent.

The process of applying wood stains is performed with a roller by hand and it takes an average of 8-9 hours to dry, but it is recommended to leave the floor overnight to dry properly.
