• Do you do restoration of stairs and banisters?

  Yes, we would be more than happy to help with the restoration of your stairs and banisters. Bear in mind that stairs and banisters restoration is a more time consuming compared to restoration of other areas of wooden flooring as majority of the work needs to be done manually. • How many times I can restore my engineered wood floors?

  Hi Richard,

  Engineered wood flooring comes in three standard thicknesses: 20 mm, 18 mm, and 14/15 mm. The top layer, made of materials like oak, walnut, beech, or maple, varies between 3 mm and 6 mm. Each sanding process removes about 1 mm of the top layer, with an additional 1 mm needed for factory defects and floor leveling. Consequently, a 3 mm top layer can only be sanded once, while a 6 mm top layer can withstand 3 to 4 restorations.

• Can you repair parquet flooring if blocks are missing?

  Hi and thank you for contacting us regarding parquet floor restoration and repair.

  We regularly restore and repair parquet flooring where blocks are missing or damaged. In such cases we always try to source reclaimed or new parquet blocks which match the size of the existing flooring. If the parquet blocks that you have sourced have bitumen residue, however, we would not recommend their use simply because removing the bitumen is a very difficult and time consuming thing to do, which makes the whole process of parquet floor restoration very expensive. Therefore, we would advise you to use new parquet flooring instead or to contact a professional parquet floor restoration company like Floorworks™ to do this for you.

• How many coats of lacquer are included in your service?

  For domestic floor sanding services, we apply 1 coat of primer followed by 2 coats of lacquer. The final sheen options are extra-matt, matt, satin, and gloss.

  For floor sanding in public spaces (offices, schools, church halls), we use 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of commercial-grade lacquer, with sheen options including extra-matt, matt, and satin.

  Extra coats are available upon request, but we do not recommend more than 5 coats, including primer. You can find the full list of floor finishes we use here.

• How long are your quotes valid for?

  To reflect the current prices of materials, our quotations are valid for 2 months only. Should you wish to make a booking after more than 2 months from receiving our quote, please contact a member of our team to check whether the quote is still valid or not.

• Can you supply matching flooring for floor repairs?

  In most cases when floor repairs are required we can supply same age of parquet flooring blocks, solid or engineered wood flooring planks. In some cases we may need to produce planks or blocks from same timber material, to match the existing flooring.

  If we cannot find the same product or material, we can supply the closest timber and do a close colour match with floor staining.
